Yoga & Mindfulness

Our bespoke yoga and mindfulness club is designed for primary school children under the guidance of a qualified children’s yoga teacher. We believe that children can benefit from yoga and mindfulness in the same way adults do and our clubs are focussed on three core pillars: mind, body, and soul.

Mind

  • Develop focus and concentration

  • Strengthen the mind-body connection

Body

  • Improve balance and concentration

  • Enhance flexibility

Soul

  • Help children manage anxiety

  • Boost self-esteem and confidence

  • Learn how to better regulate and control emotions

Key principles:

Age-appropriate & inclusive – the different poses are taught using animal and nature labels and themes that integrate storytelling and adventure. Fun and natural world themes stimulate the children’s imagination and also keep the classes age-appropriate, including by avoiding any religious or cultural references.

Learn through play – children love to move and play, and so we integrate movement, play, and a little healthy competition into our yoga classes by teaching yoga through games and challenges to keep the children active and entertained, as well as teaching dynamic poses and partner/group poses.

Technical skills – we end each session with a guided relaxation to help the children practice concentration and relaxation.

Skills for life – we introduce the children to the power and simplicity of saying positive statements but with a fun twist – through songs, rhymes, writing, and drawing we encourage the children to remember how brilliant they are through positive affirmations.
